"A game with balls" -- possible subtitle
Something simple-ish.
Web-based? Web-hosted?
Idea: pinball-style game of building flippers and obstacles to hit certain key objects with multiple balls and get them all into a score-basket at the end.
Idea: something with a swarm - look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uH3dAqrMMVk
Idea: (massive?) multiplayer game that "lets you actually invent a bit". Examples: draw your own tank; build a modular tank (all the way -- if someone wants a tank with no wheels and a helicopter propeller, they should be able to have one)
Expanding on the latter:
- 2d tank game, top-down
- a player builds their own tank by drawing rectangles and placing treads/wheels, guns, etc
- everything added in adds weight, may require power and may generate heat.
- thinking of Stratosphere a bit
- top-down view, control the tank with WSAD, tab afterburner (if available), space jump (if available)
- modules:
- light/medium/heavy tank hull (the rectangles you build the tank with)
- engines (power generation, weight/heat production)
- batteries (heavy, power storage)
- helicopter blades (weight reduction, jumping but high power use, reasonable heat generation)
- jet engines (high acceleration in one direction, high heat but directional (can be used as weapon), fair-to-middling power use, high weight)
- treads (carry heavy weight, some power use, slow but not affected by rough terrain)
- wheels (carry less weight than treads, less power use, faster, affected by rough terrain)
- legs (very slow, high weght capacity, middling power use, ignore rough terrain, very easily damaged, hindered by heliblades)
- hovercraft skirts (low weight, very fast, ignore rough terrain, easily damaged, middling power use, helps helicopter blades)
- turrets (follow cursor, can have things mounted on them, turn faster/slower depending on weight)
- guns! (various weights, draw power to fire, generate heat when firing)
- projectile guns (hardly any power, needs (comparatively) large ammo, medium heat)
- railguns (medium power, smaller ammo, medium heat)
- lasers (high power, no ammo, high heat)
- rockets (no power, huge ammo, little heat)
- spikes (no power, high weight, high damage resistance)
- armor plating (no power, high weight, is applied to items to increase their hitpoints but adds negatives)
- heatsink (light weight, non-powered device, dissipates heat, especially when moving; is applied to items the same way armor is (and replaces armor))
