Livestream Brainstorm

State of the Livestream
As we've noticed, currently, the Livestream is kind of boring -- few people watching, few people streaming. We need to start afresh and we're looking for ideas on how to do that.
Thoughts on how to reorganize our Livestream
Alternative streaming sites?
- We need a streaming site that is built to work with teams rather than a single "streamer" account. Failing that, we'll keep using failscream.
- http://helpcenter.ustream.tv/content/using-co-host-feature -- doesn't seem to quite do what we need it to do.
- http://blog.justin.tv/announcing-member-channels/ -- seems somewhat closer to what we need.
Team maintenance
- Have a livestream account whose credentials are known to the responsible people (at this moment, we'd be talking about narc0tiq, funnyman, and maybe absconditus and icepick)
- Livestream API seems to allow some control there -- we could weld our own system alongside it.
- For bringing people onto the streaming team: we need to get to know people before we hand them the reins to the stream, but if you've been around a while and are well-known and well-liked, we'll probably pick you up.
- On the other hand, if you've been a streamer for a while but haven't really been using the privilege, we may step you down to keep the list a little shorter -- if that happens, you can just ask to be put back on the team and we'll do it.
Scheduling and Events
- You can schedule an event ahead of time if you want to do something at some point, otherwise just spontaneously jump in.
- Google Calendar is nice. Livestream has some event-scheduling support, too.
- Event ideas:
- A Minecraft build-a-thon?
- Minecraft server events for Commentators up with invites to mumble users.
- Special Minecraft game modes (GM, RPMinecraft)
- PvP Terraria
- Eve events?
- Any kind of audience participation (even as simple as "what do you guys want me to do now?")
- Audience-driven D&D?
- 12:26 PM barkingburger: You could also pick a decent F2P MMO and have everyone start level 1 chars and group up
- Youtube Video Hour -- needs a rethinking, but it's a fun event.
- A Minecraft build-a-thon?
Themes
(what should the entire livestream revolve around? What's its primary focus? Most of the current input reads more like event ideas)
- Minecraft (bad choice, most of the longer-term streamers are burned out)
- Retro games (also a bad choice; too limited)
- Gameplay commentary (also narrow):
- Starcraft 2 games with spectator as streamer;
- LoL would be nice, but has no "spectate" option. Replays?
- Group events (difficult to organize)
- Precipice Games (tying ourselves to the community can be problematic, but also gives us a good obvious connection;)
- If we end up doing this, we'll have to tie very deeply into the community: regularly talk to the community members on-stream, feature the precipice minecraft server(s?) and development projects being assisted by the Precipice Games non-profit.
- General gaming (broad, but it's pretty much what we're doing anyway)
Definite good things
- People talking -- i.e. commentary. A single person playing a game, talking to themselves, is something you can watch on youtube (though audience interaction occasionally mitigates this); multiple people who are watching the same thing and discussing it is engaging and special.
